Some time ago a number of Internet researchers started listening to the background radiation noise of the Internet. What do I mean by `background radiation`? I`m stealing the term from astronomy of course, where the term referred to the accidental discovery in 1964 of cosmic background radiation by American radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson. Their work confirmed earlier theoretical work concerning the remnants of the original `Big Bang` origin of the cosmos, which won them the 1978 Nobel Prize for Physics.
