Montgomery County Issues Hypothermia Alert; Offers Extreme Cold Weather Information for People and Animals

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, December 12, 2017 Due to predicted temperatures in Montgomery County tonight of 17 to 20 degrees with a wind chill factor of below 10 degrees, and sustained winds around 18 to 20 miles per hour (mph) gusting up to 30 mph, the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is issuing a Hypothermia Alert to go into effect at 7 p.m. A Hypothermia Alert is issued for the County when the actual or forecasted temperature, including wind chill, falls below 20 degrees creating a hazardous situation in which hypothermia and frostbite are likely.
