Widespread demand for electric vehicles could hinge on batteries that can be charged in minutes instead of hours, and researchers at the Department of Energy`s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory are on the road to making that happen. `Our goal is to give drivers an experience they`re familiar with, and that is being able to pull into a station, charge their battery and be on their way in about 10 minutes,` said Argonne chemist and battery expert Ira Bloom, who sees this happening in the near future.
