When cannabis was legalized for recreational use in New Mexico, Chris Tapia didn’t hesitate to jump into the new industry. Tapia’s company, Sawmill Cannabis Co., planned to open five dispensaries in and around Albuquerque, along with a grow operation and a pair of manufacturing facilities that could supply the stores. But on April 1, when recreational cannabis sales are expected to begin, Sawmill Cannabis won’t be among the dispensaries selling products.
