Coronavirus update: July marked the worst month on record for new infections

Infections were more than double the number reported in June and represent about 42 percent of the 4.5 million cases the country has logged since the outbreak started. July`s death toll, 25,259, was up more than 3,700 from the previous month, a trend expected to continue into August.
