Canada West schools wait for other shoe to drop after Pandas pull plug on winter sports

Student athletes around Canada West saw the University of Alberta withdraw six teams out of winter sports on Wednesday, and began to wonder if it was just the first domino to fall — and if they might be, well, playing ominoes instead of sports this winter. The Golden Bears and Pandas, UA’s men’s and women’s teams, respectively, pulled their volleyball, basketball and hockey teams out of competition for the 2020-21 season.
