Tarboro council to consider new budget

The Tarboro Town Council will consider a budget of nearly $42.9 million for fiscal year 2020-21 at its June 8 meeting following a nearly two-hour budget session on Monday. The meeting was closed to the public and press because of COVID-19 attendance regulations, but it was available in audio format on the Zoom platform. Town Manager Troy Lewis told council members the budget represents a 1.25 percent over the current budget. Lewis said the budget includes no increases for electricity, water and sewer or solid waste rates but warned council members that an increase is anticipated because of increasing landfill fees.
