Free Pokemon Game Makes $8 Million In One Month
(GameSpot PS3 News)

Pokemon Quest, the free-to-play game that imagines Pokemon in block form, has passed a big new revenue milestone. The game has now pulled in more than $8 million from its microtransactions across iOS and Android. This is according to a report from SensorTower, which added that the game made more than $3 million during its first week along. The game is currently averaging around $30,000 per day in revenue across iOS and Android, which is down from the game`s single-day record of $580,000 on June 30 (via Gamasutra). The bulk of spending comes from the iOS edition of the game, (66 percent) compared to 44 percent for Google Play. In terms of a geographic breakdown, spending from players in Japan made up 34 percent of the $8 million. The United States follows at 24 percent with South Korea coming in third at 12 percent; the remainder was made up from other markers.Like other free-to-play games, or, `free-to-start,` as Nintendo calls them, Pokemon Quest is supported by microtransactions. You can pay real money to buy items and packs that help speed up your progress in the game.Pokemon Quest is also available on Nintendo Switch, but SensorTower`s report only applies to the iOS and Android editions.Set on Tumblecube Island, Pokemon Quest features cube-style versions of the original 151 Pokemon, including Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. By The Pokemon Company`s latest count, Pokemon Quest had reached 7.5 million downloads. The next big Pokemon game is Pokemon: Let`s Go Pikachu and Pokemon: Let`s Go Eevee, which launch in November for Nintendo Switch. A `core` Pokemon RPG will follow in 2019.
