Warnings of thunderstorms and heavy rain remain in place for large swathes of the UK after scorching temperatures were recorded for the sixth day in a row in parts of southern England. A yellow thunderstorm warning issued by the Met Office covers much of England, Wales and parts of Scotland, with the potential of hail, frequent lightning and flash flooding in some areas.
