SAN JOSE — Strong, gusty winds wreaked havoc on the Bay Area on Sunday, taking down tree branches and power lines, causing widespread electrical outages and prompting closures across the region. An initial wind advisory from the National Weather Service focused on the North Bay and East Bay Hills, but by Sunday afternoon, the agency had expanded that advisory to include the entire Bay Area, including the South Bay and coastal areas around Santa Cruz, until 7 p.m. Sunday.
