Dan Finn was driving away from Saugus High School after dropping off his girlfriend’s son, a senior, when he noticed a flood of students running from campus. Maybe a fight, were his first thoughts. But then the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department detective noticed how many kids were running: hundreds, and from all directions. Something was extremely wrong. He drove back to the school drop-off loop and ran onto the quad, following his training to look for the source of fire.
