Shelby Lee Meyer, a junior Columbia College volleyball player, died in Columbia early Saturday morning after attempting to climb a ladder to the roof of an apartment building on the 400 block of Hitt Street, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.Meyer, 21, a Festus native, was transported to a local emergency room for care, the release stated, but she died as a result of her injuries.
