Pat Newberry Huitt reminisces about growing up in family cabin in 1930s, 1940s

Pat Newberry Huitt returned to the cabin she grew up in while archeologists, students and historians asked her to tell them more about her childhood home. Earlier this year, the cabin, called the Newberry Cabin, was moved to the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford from its original location east of Millsap. Huitt, 88, grew up in that cabin in the 1930s and 1940s and moved her senior year in high school. Huitt descended from a prominent pioneer family-the Newberrys- that settled in Parker County during the mid-19th century.
