Key witness in 2008 blasts case turns hostile

AHMEDABAD: In a setback for Gujarat police, an important witness in the 2008 serial blasts case has turned hostile before the special court that is trying the case. Over the last decade, nearly 80 persons from 11 states have been arrested in this case and jailed and the prosecution has examined as many as 1,050 witnesses before the special court so far. Ironically, two material witnesses who link the accused with the crime have turned hostile. Talib Abdul Gaffar Maniyar of Surat did not support the prosecution´s case when he took the witness box ten days ago. He also disowned the statement he had made before police earlier.
