Peoria man sentenced to 50 years for beating, burning 2-year-old girl

PEORIA — For severely burning and also beating a 2-year-old child last spring, a Peoria man was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years in prison.Willie Vail maintained to Peoria County Circuit Judge Kevin Lyons that he didn`t injure or burn the girl last May. And the judge, while not believing the man`s statement, also didn`t think Vail had meant to hurt the girl as much as he did. The judge gave him six years for the earlier beating that occurred on May 29, 2017, and then 44 years ......
