Day care worker charged after allegations of sexual abuse

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont day care facility worker is facing a criminal charge related to alleged sexual abuse at the facility. State police say 77-year-old Thomas Claffey was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on a felony charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Authorities say they received a report last week of abuse that allegedly occurred in 2014 at the St. Johnsbury facility. Reached at home, Claffey said he had no comment on the charge. State police say Claffey helped with running the day care and would occasionally supervise the children. He was arrested Sunday following an investigation. Police say the investigation is ongoing. ......
