Lanes, parking reconfigured to make downtown Colorado Springs more pedestrian, cyclist friendly

New lane configurations opened this week in downtown Colorado Springs, helping to improve access for bicyclists and pedestrian safety. South Weber Street between East Rio Grande Street to Pikes Peak Avenue now has one lane in each direction with turning lanes at intersections for cars, on-street parallel parking spaces next to the through-traffic lane and a designated bike lane between the parking spaces and the curb. The reconfiguration is designed to keep pedestrians, cyclists and drivers safer by keeping bicycles off the sidewalk and provide a buffer from moving traffic for cyclists.
