Irma rains not much help for Lake Lanier

Even the downpours of Hurricane Irma couldn´t fill up Lake Lanier, the Gainesville Times reports. Irma, a tropical storm by the time it reached metro Atlanta Sept. 11, helped raise the lake´s water level by only five inches. Despite forecasts of up to five inches of rain, a mere 0.9 inches of rain fell on Gainesville on Monday and Tuesday, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration records, the Times reports.
