Apartments coming to Moore`s Lake, once a popular swimming hole and dance hall in Chester

Barbara Hack remembers going to Moore´s Lake for family picnics as a teenager in the 1950s. `It was the place to go,` the Colonial Heights resident said about the popular swimming hole and dance hall off Jefferson Davis Highway in Chester. `It was a happy place.` The sandy beaches and water slides are long gone. The bathhouses and dance pavilion exist only in photos and memories. Trees and underbrush infringe on the lake, where remnants of a cement siding can be seen along the water´s edge. Change is coming to this corner north of state Route 10 (West Hundred Road) on the east side of U.S. 1.
