Q I´ll never forget the day, over 20 years ago now, that my mother died. I had been called at work and told that she had been taken from her care facility to the hospital in Hayward, and to hurry there. I immediately headed up Highway 237, only to blow a tire in a huge pothole. I left the car there, and called my daughter to pick me up.
