Upset by changes that would kill popular third-party Reddit apps, volunteer moderators protested by locking the thousands of subreddits — which crashed all of Reddit.Reddit`s volunteer moderators kicked off their promised blackout protest in response to Reddit`s planned API changes, removing more than 6,000 subreddits from public accessibility and crashing Reddit`s servers along with them.
