Florida insurance companies ranked by policy count: How big is yours?

State Farm Florida has reappeared in market share charts publicly released by Florida`s Office of Insurance Regulation after an eight-year absence. The company insures the third-largest number of homes in Florida, 558,604, behind only state-owned Citizens Property Insurance Corp. and Fort Lauderdale-based Universal Property & Casualty. State Farm Florida had been blocking public release of its policy count since invoking `trade secret` status in 2014, preventing industry analysts and lawmakers from accurately assessing Florida`s insurance marketplace. Public release of statewide totals were ordered as part of a package of insurance reforms approved by the state Legislature last May.
