Qualcomm is losing its grip as the global chip shortage strains smartphone production. What you need to know OPPO is rumored to develop its own high-end smartphone chips. The 3nm chipsets would be built by TSMC and launch in 2023 or 2024. The move would follow Google, which just launched the Pixel 6 with its own custom-built chip. OPPO reportedly wants to take more control of its production according to the latest rumor from Nikkei Asia suggesting that the company is seeking to build its own smartphone chipset. Sources close to the matter told the publication that the SoC would be built with TSMC based on its 3nm process. This is the same manufacturer Apple uses for its chips in the iPhone. The phones powered by the alleged SoC reportedly won`t launch until 2023 at the earliest.
