Montgomery County furniture firm Knoll being acquired by competitor Herman Miller for $1.8 billion

Herman Miller Inc., of Zeeland, Michigan, is acquiring Knoll in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $1.8 billion. The deal, approved by both companies` boards of directors, is expected to close by the end of the third quarter, subject to closing conditions.
