Panaji: The directorate of education (DoE) is in the process of preparing a report on the number of surplus teachers in government schools, after the number of single-teacher schools were found to be on the rise. The state is looking at redistributing teachers from schools that have excess teachers to those that are facing a shortage. Incidentally, data currently available with the Goa Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) shows that in 2015-16 there were 402 primary and 122 upper primary schools with surplus teachers.
