While running a catering service on the side, Asad Gharwal operated the popular but tucked-away Da Afghan Restaurant in an industrial corner of Bloomington from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. Over the years, heâs fed professional sports teams, the late musician Prince, the staff of Air Force One, and even, during the Super Bowl in Minneapolis in 1992, business mogul Donald Trump. âWe would serve the presidential candidates in their planes,` said Gharwal, who more recently ran an airline food service.
