Friday, 15 November, 2019 European Commission update The Commission President-elect Ursula von der Leyen, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson last week, asking him to nominate a candidate for the UK`s commissioner, urging him to propose a female candidate by an informal deadline of 11th November. The UK previously stated that they would not be nominating a candidate as it was planned that Brexit would have taken place and the UK would have left the EU before the new Commission took office.
