Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grande Parade kicks off at Exhibition Place - some are on Kawhi Leonard watch

After a month filled with events celebrating Caribbean culture in Toronto, the 52nd annual Toronto Caribbean Carnival ends today with the popular Grande Parade.The parade has long been a highlight of the Festival and will showcase masqueraders in colourful and specially-designed costumes and steel pan bands as spectators cheer on participants from the sidelines.The event started at Exhibition Place at 8:30 a.m. Performers will move east along Lakeshore Blvd. until the southeastern edge of High Park, at which point it will turn back and head towards Coronation Park.Several roads are closed for the parade, including affected parts of Lakeshore Blvd, Dufferin St. south of Springhurst Ave., and Strachan Ave. south of Liberty St.The Gardiner Expressway will have restricted access during the time. The westbound and eastbound item ramps at Jameson Ave., the eastbound item ramp at British Columbia, and the westbound exit ramp to Dunn Ave. are all closed.Ilya Bañares is a breaking news reporter, working out of the Star`s radio room in Toronto.
