On 21 July 1969 at 3.56 Belgian time, Neil Armstrong stepped out of the Apollo 11 and became the first human being to set foot on the Moon. His colleague Buzz Aldrin followed 19 minutes later. The men spent about two hours on the surface of the Moon, taking photographs, gathering material, and planting an American flag. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, we spoke to KU Leuven researchers from different fields whose work has a connection with the Moon and space.
