Police say they are investigating after a 21-second video posted to Reddit showed an altercation between a cyclist and a driver in downtown Toronto. The cyclist can be seen coming up behind a man, grabbing him and throwing him to the ground. The cyclist can then be seen picking up his bicycle, walking it across the intersection and riding away. The video didn’t show what happened prior to the incident. According to what was reported to police, the altercation happened around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, on Raptors Way — formerly Bremner Blvd., before this stretch was renamed in June — and York St., said Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook.“It’s alleged that a man was driving a vehicle and he got into a verbal altercation with a cyclist. He then exited his vehicle and was allegedly assaulted by the cyclist, who then fled,” Douglas-Cook told the Star in an interview Friday. “At this point, it’s a pretty new investigation.”The driver involved told police he was struck with an object and the incident is being investigated as an assault with a weapon, said Douglas-Cook.Police will only comment on the report submitted to them as the video still needs to be confirmed by investigators, she said.
