The lineup went around the corner Monday morning on Queen St. W. at the Hunny Pot Cannabis Co., as the first legal bricks-and-mortar pot retailer opened in Toronto at 9 a.m.Among the first in line was prominent Toronto social justice lawyer Caryma Sa’d, who has found herself representing more than a few cannabis users on drug possession charges in her career. “It was totally worth the wait,” said Sa’d, who had been camping since 9 a.m. Sunday morning outside the store and was the fourth person to buy legal pot.She ended up spending about $30, buying a gram of Sativa tangerine dream and Sativa pre-rolled joints.“We get to be a part of history, it is a pretty cool thing to be part of the end of Prohibition. And so here we are in front of the first legal storefront,” Sa’d said in an earlier interview, standing beside a lime green tent that she and her friend Marie Kamora, a fitness trainer had set up in front of the store.“Kudos to the store for pulling it together. It wasn’t an easy feat with all the hurdles put in place. So we’re excited to support their business.”Hunny Gawri, owner of the Hunny Pot store, told the Star that he was pleased with the turnout and smooth flow of customers. Numerous strains of Sativa and Indica cannabis products were available for viewing and purchase in the store’s three levels.Toronto has five recreational pot shops slated for the downtown core, but the Hunny Pot is the only one ready to be open on time.“Pot is shunned by a lot of countries and it has been stigmatized.
