MUMBAI: For four generations, 54 tribal families of a Gorai hamlet have been waiting for power to light up their homes. Now, the revenue department has finally given its go-ahead to Adani Electricity to power the hamlet for the first time ever. This week, Adani has commenced work on laying underground cables and using a substation to supply electricity to Jhamjad Pada in a remote hilly area of Gorai. Ishwar Kisan Nam, a resident of the hamlet, told TOI he is elated that his daughters will no longer have to study at night under kerosene lamps. `My eldest daughter, Anisha, is in Class VII while the younger, Nisha, is in Class II,` he said.
