Stock of 14 dams below average of past 10 years

PUNE: The live storage of 14 of the 17 reservoirs monitored by the Central Water Commission in Maharashtra has plunged below the average stock of the past 10 years as well as that in the same period last year. The storage in the state reservoirs is 35% less than the average storage of the past 10 years, a recent report of the commission stated. An official of the commission said considering the rising temperature in the state, evaporatrion was affecting the storage in dams. `For instance, water in a plate will evaporate faster than from a vessel, which has a smaller extent and narrower brim.
