The International Press Institute (IPI) welcomes Khabar Lahariya, an independent and feminist rural media outlet in India, as its newest institutional member. Khabar Lahariya was launched in 2002 with the aim of bringing a feminist voice to local media and establish women as journalists in small towns and villages. Pooja Pande, head of partnerships at Khabar Lahariya, describes how Khabar Lahariya`s critical journalism is transforming rural news in India, and women`s role in it.
