Liquor smuggler escapes from police custody

Ludhiana: A liquor smuggler escaped from police custody near Cheema Chowk on Thursday. Karamjit Singh, a resident of Raikot, was being taken to Division 6 police station from court when he gave police the slip. Head constable Vinod Kumar, deputed at excise department, said in his police complaint, `The excise department and the police had arrested Karamjit and his associate Shamsher Singh, also of Raikot, for liquor smuggling on February 19.
