December 2018 had highest number of cold waves in 13 years

PUNE: India, this winter, experienced a staggering 167 incidences of cold wave across different stations in December. This is the highest number of cold waves reported in the month in 13 years, revealed the operational data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In fact, in the past two decades, only 2005 had more reported incidences of December cold waves in the country - 177. In most other years since 2000, the number of cold waves reported in December had not even touched the three-digit mark.
