HC asks govt to ensure steps to clean Godavari

MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Tuesday said it wants the state clean up its act and clean the Godavari, the second largest river in India. The court directed the Maharashtra government to launch programmes to remove and curb pollution in the river where thousands of pilgrims converge during the Nashik Kumbh Mela. Significantly, the HC directed the state to consider formulating a `River Regulation Policy´´ to replace a cancelled policy.
