Traffic sub-inspector held for demanding, accepting bribe for issuing NOC

THANE: A sub-inspector from the traffic department was nabbed by the anti-corruption bureau on Friday accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a businessman. The cop demanded the money for providing a clearance certificate. The incident took place at Teen Hath Naka. The complainant, a transporter by profession needed a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in order to transport goods from one city to another. So, he had approached Atmaram Patil (54) for the same at the traffic headquarters but was asked to pay Rs 8,000 against the NOC....
