The number of game shot decreased in the hunting year 2017/2018

Press release: 11.880-191/18 Vienna, 2018-10-11 - A total of 758 000 game has been shot in the hunting year 2017/2018, according to Statistics Austria. Compared with the previous season this represents a decrease of 0.5%. Thereof, the number of furred gameshot increased by 2.6% to 633 000 head and the number of game birdsshot declined by 13.9% to 125 000 head. Among furred game 413 000 head hoofed game(+6.1%) and 220 000 head other haired game(-3.4%) were shot.
