Toronto police have made an arrest in the shooting last week in Yorkdale Mall that caused mass panic with shoppers scrambling for safety and forced the shutdown of the shopping centre for the day. Two groups of people, with at least three men on each side, were involved in an altercation shortly after 2 p.m. on Aug. 30, near the Starbucks in the south-east corner of the mall, police said.One man took out a handgun and fired at least two shots, police said. Luckily, no one was hurt by the gunshots, although the panic caused some minor injuries as the crowds scrambled out of the mall. Police identified a suspect the day after the shooting, and he was arrested Monday without incident outside Trenton, Ont. Zion Sankar-Beharry, 20, of Toronto, faces 11 charges, including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a weapon and possessing a weapon for committing an offence, among other gun related charges. Police are thanking the public for all the tips and assistance they received throughout this investigation.
