Foswac seeks single pass to parking lots

CHANDIGARH: The Federation of Sector Welfare Associations of Chandigarh (Foswac) has asked the municipal corporation to introduce a single-pass monthly parking system of Rs 200 for four-wheeler and Rs 100 two-wheelers, arguing that only nominal charges would encourage people to use the lots. Foswac president Baljinder Singh Bittu, who mooted the proposal, said: `The MC should charge vehicle owners a monthly fee for letting them park in any lot of the city. There must be nearly 10 lakh vehicles in the city, so the civic authorities can earn more than Rs 30 crore a month if they issue the commuting public a single pass for nominal charges.` In the proposal, Foswac has demand that the MC should...
