Kerala floods: Rescue an arduous task in Chengannur, Kuttanad

ALAPPUZHA: Even after government machinery and defence forces make all out efforts to rescue people stranded in flooded areas, still thousands, including children, pregnant women and elderly, are calling for help from Chengannur and Kuttanad taluks, which are completely isolated Rescue boats and helicopters could reach only a few places due to strong currents and heavy flood in Chengannur. Shortage of rescue teams and boats also affected the operations. Around 64,500 people were shifted to 245 relief camps in the district on Friday alone.
