Sparkman in line for first MLB start

Right-hander Glenn Sparkman (0-1, 5.06 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals in the series finale with Toronto at Kauffman Stadium tonight at 7:15 p.m. CT. Former Royals right-hander Sam Gaviglio (2-5, 4.86) will start for the Blue Jays. Sparkman will be making his first big league start. He last pitched Friday in a 7-0 loss to the Cardinals, giving up two runs and four hits over a career-high 4 1/3 innings.
