Anxious sixth-formers are rushing to find out what the future holds as they nervously receive their A-level results. Amid the joy and despair of the traditional Thursday, it has emerged that the number of students accepted on to UK degree courses has fallen to 411,860. The number of eighteen-year-olds accepting a place is down 1% from last year, according to initial Ucas figures.
