This time last year, Christian Holmes was ready to be a starter. Following a productive freshman year in which he appeared in 10 games during the 2016 season, mainly on special teams, the now-redshirt sophomore cornerback felt poised to take on a bigger role for the Tigers in 2017. Holmes had bulked up in the offseason, and with extra time spent in the film room, he thought a greater understanding of the defense had put him in a position to thrive.
