Paramedics say three people have been taken to hospital after being rescued by emergency services at Woodbine beach.Police received a call at 2:40 p.m. that multiple people were in distress, with two of them out of the water and one missing near Lake Shore Blvd. E. and Woodbine Ave. A 16-year-old male with life threatening injuries, a 15-year-old girl, and a third person were taken to hospital, according to paramedics. Two others were assessed at the scene, paramedics said. Officials called off the search around 4 p.m. after all beachgoers were accounted for. Police had earlier roped off a sizeable portion of the beach with yellow tape. From the beach, at least 13 people could be seen on the water searching, including at least six boats and a helicopter. Jeremy Campbell heard what had happened and rushed to the beach. He saw two people pulled from the water and taken away in ambulances.“There were two people I saw on shore,” he said. “one which was having CPR performed on them.”With files from Tamar HarrisInori Roy is a breaking news reporter, working out of the Star’s radio room in Toronto.
