Fewer road accidents and people injured, all-time-low in number of road deaths (414) in 2017

Press release: 11.823-134/18 Vienna,2018-07-11 - In 2017, there were fewer road accidents, injuries and fatalities on Austria`s roads than in 2016: As Statistics Austria reports, 47 258 people (-1 135; -2.3%) were injured and 414 people were killed in 37 402 accidents (-1 064; -2.8%). Thus, the number of road deaths dropped by 18 or 4.2% compared to 2016 and is also at the lowest level since 1961, the start of statistical records. On average 102 accidents occurred per day, 129 people were injured daily and one person was killed every 21 hours (1.1 per day).
