The provincial election may have felt particularly endless, but it is over, and it is time to dispose of the evidence.A Toronto bylaw, enacted in January, says that election signs must be removed with 72 hours from the completion of voting on election day. That means that the signs have to be off your front lawn by 9 p.m. Sunday evening. Typically, the candidate who posted the sign should come and retrieve it from your property. If they don’t collect it, contact them and ask for it to be taken away. If they don’t come, and you’re not sure how to dispose of the leftover signage, the city suggests dropping them off at any of the Drop-Off Depots, except the Dufferin location, until July 17. The depot will take the signs free of charge. Signs cannot be lumped in with the rest of the recycling, according to the city.
