Gant garners no support in solid effort vs. Bucs

In large part, the conversation surrounding the Cardinals` impending rotation logjam does not include John Gant. But the versatile righty made another case to remain in the Cardinals` pitching picture, in some role, on Friday night at PNC Park. Though he was tagged with the loss in what ended as an 8-1 loss to the Pirates, Gant breezed through two turns of the order before Pittsburgh broke through in the middle innings.
