Leafs´ assistant GM Mark Hunter quits

Assistant GM Mark Hunter has quit his post with the Maple Leafs a day after it was learned that senior advisor Lou Lamoriello would be leaving as well.“Following extensive discussions with Mark, he and the Toronto Maple Leafs have mutually agreed to part ways,� Leafs president Brendan Shanahan said in a news release. “I’d like to sincerely thank Mark for everything he’s done for this organization over the last four years and I wish him nothing but the best in the future.�Hunter, who built a reputation as a shrewd drafter and talent evaluator, had been passed over in favour of Kyle Dubas for the role of general manager.On Sunday, a source told the Star that Lamoriello —who was removed from his post as general manager after three years — would also be leaving, to take a up a role with the New York Islanders.“Done deal,� a source told the Star.Lamoriello was to join his son, Chris, who is assistant GM with the Islanders.The announcement is expected before the final round of the Stanley Cup.
